Seria aceasta de trei întâlniri propuse de Ovid Pop gravitează în jurul noțiunii de cunoaștere întrupată. Cunoașterea întrupată este cunoaștere structurată care trece prin și pune în folosință corpurile noastre. În acest sens, cunoașterea cu care operăm este specifică și localizată. Cu toate acestea, direcțiile discursive și ustensilele care generează cunoaștere (validată ca atare) sunt concepute global. Aici pândește o tensiune productivă… între conținutul local și proiectarea globală. Este o marjă de agency care ne permite să facem o schimbare și să inovăm. Sau să rezistăm la hegemonii opresive.
Workshopurile se învârt în jurul unui mănunchi de teme: diviziunea muncii în câmpul global/local al muncii, afecte politice și contra(revoluție), ierarhie și atribuirea valorii în câmpul artei, biografii emancipatoare. Workshopurile sunt concepute în așa fel, încât să permită participanților să se plaseze ca subiecți productivi în domeniul lor de activitate. Acestea_aceștia sunt invitate să relaționeze cu pozițiile celorlate persoane participante și să gândească împreună relația dezvoltată cu mediul social mai larg. Atelierele sunt participative. Ele combină diferite materiale: imagine, text, sunet. E de dorit puțină deschidere spre joc și inspirație ca să evităm orice apăsare teoretică. De vreme ce teoria este totodată și găsirea plăcerii în lucrul cu ideile...
[EN] Local Knowledge * Global Design
This series of three meetings proposed by Ovid Pop is centered around the notion of embodied knowledge. Embodied knowledge is structured knowledge that runs through and employs our bodies. In this sense, the knowledge one operates with is specific, localized. Nevertheless, the discursive directions and the tools, that generate (acknowledged) knowledge, are globally designed. Here lurks a productive tension… between the local content and the global intent. There is a margin of agency that enables us to make a change and spawn innovation. Or to resist oppressive hegemonies.
The workshops revolve around a bundle of topics: labor division in global/local work spaces, political affects and (counter)revolution, hierarchy and value ascription in the art field, emancipatory biographies. The workshops are conceived in such a way as to enable the participants to place themselves as productive subjects in their specific work areas. They are also invited to relate with the interconnected positions of their fellow participants and to think about the broader social environment. The workshops are participative. They combine all kinds of materials: image, text, sound. Playfulness and inspiration are desired in order to clear out any threat of theoretical heaviness. Since theory is also finding pleasure in working with ideas.

Diversificarea proceselor de muncă în era post-industrială a dus la o și mai pronunțată diviziune a muncii. Câmpul muncii este, astăzi, deteritorializat dpv geografic și fragmentat dpv operațional. Fabrica – unitatea timp/spațiu care a facilitat organizarea muncitorimii în epoca industrială – este destructurată. Munca intelectuală, și mai precis, munca culturală suferă transformări similare. Idealul umanist care a ținut laolaltă practicile emancipatoare cu originea în iluminism s-au făcut bucăți-bucățele. Peisajul care ni se dezvăluie după răstunarea post-structuralistă este o hiperspecializare a practicilor culturale. Locul omului l-au luat mașina, cyborgul, planeta. Acestea sunt tendințe globale. Dar ce raporturi de putere stabilește diviziunea muncii intelectuale la nivel local? Ce efecte sociale produce operaționalizarea muncii intelectuale într-un oraș ca București în comparație cu, să zicem, Londra sau Ploiești? Pe ce criterii se revendică practica culturală de la centrele de consacrare simbolică? Și dacă trecem dintr-un câmp de producție culturală într-altul, ce se pierde, ce se câștigă?
Împreună o să încercăm să aflăm dacă hiperspecializarea în muncă are efecte emancipatorii sau dacă, dimpotrivă, joacă interesele micii burghezii. Sau dacă face și una, și alta.

The diversification of the labor processes in the post-industrial era has deepened the labor division. The work field is geographically deterritorialized and operationally fragmented. The factory – the time/space unity that enabled the labor force to organize politically – is destructured. The intellectual labor, and more precisely the cultural labor has gone through similar transformations. The humanist ideal, that held together the emancipatory practices with their origins in the Enlightenment, has broken into pieces.The landscape unfolding before us after the post-structuralist turn looks like a hyperspecialized juggernaut. The place of the homo universalis was taken by the machine, the cyborg, the planet. These are global tendencies now. But what kind of power enables the intellectual labor division at the local level? What social effects does the operationalization of such labor bring about in a city like Bucharest in comparison, say, to London or Ploiești? Drawing on which criterias does the day to day cultural practice claim its sustainability from the centers of symbolic consecration? And if one crosses the fields, working intersectionally, what is gained and what is lost?
Together we will try to find out, if the hyperspecialization in the work space has emancipatory effects or if, on the contrary, it plays into the hands of the petite-bourgeoisie. Or if it does both.

Ovid Pop lucrează în Viena și București. Este scriitor și teoretician transnațional. Este co-fondatorul kollektiv sprachwechsel: Literatur in der Zweitsprache la Viena – grup de literatură și teorie de scriitoare_scriitori în germană ca a doua sau a treia limbă. Ovid Pop este autorul unui roman în limba română (Trickster, Polirom, 2009), a unei cărți conceptuale de literatură în limbile engleză, română, și germană (Domeniul Celor Vii, Traznit.ro/Iași 2018), și este co-autorul mai multor cărți de eseuri și proză (ex.: Rubik, Polirom, 2008). De asemenea, el publică proză scurtă și poezie în limbile germană și engleză, acestea fiind premiate la concursuri din spațiul german (Exilliteratur Preis 2015, Politisch Schreiben 2018). Textele sale sunt traduse în Sârbo-Croată, Franceză, Engleză, Germană, Maghiară. Ovid Pop susține conferințe pe teme literare, de teoria artei și de gândire decolonială. Organizează în Viena dezbateri publice pe tema: producție literară în limbi non-materne. Are articole publicate în reviste în România, Austria, Ungaria, Germania.
Ovid Pop lives and works in Vienna and Bucharest. He is a transnational writer and theorist. He is the co-founder (together with Radostina Patulova) of the kollektiv sprachwechsel: Literatur in the Zweitsprache, a literary group of writers based in Vienna who publish literature in German as a second language. Ovid Pop is the author of a concept literary book The Estate of the Living (Romanian, English, German, Tranzit.ro/Iași, 2018), the novel Trickster (Romanian, Polirom, 2009); he co-wrote the novel Rubik (Romanian, Polriom 2008). He has published several short stories and poetry in German, among others (Edition Exil, Vienna, 2015), Politisch Schreiben (Dresden, 2018), Triëdere (upcoming). His texts are translated into BCS, French, English, German, Hungarian. He gives lectures on literary topics, art theory and decolonial thinking. He organises public readings and debates on writing in secondary languages in Vienna. His articles are published in magazines in Romania, Austria, Hungary and Germany.

ODD THEORY. A series of public meetings around a set of theoretical notions. Sessions are conducted over 1 to 3 days by one or several guests, sometimes in connection with the residency program at ODD. Guests choose their subject, based upon personal interest and knowledge, and are also asked to reflect upon the method of delivery. The final form may combine lecture, performance, workshop, reading, screening, walk. Sessions are open to the general public upon registration, as places are limited. They do not require prior knowledge of the subject.
In 2017, public events were connected to an informal work group meeting twice a month. In 2018, the project was co-curated by Cristina Bogdan and Anca Bucur and functioned a partnership between ODD, Modulab and frACTalia, co-funded by AFCN. From 2019, it is run collectively by the ODD team.
